It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.

I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires.

No, Moslems don’t believe that Jesus was the Messiah.

Think of it like a movie. The Torah is the first one, and the New Testament the sequel. Then the Qu’ran comes out, and it retcons the last one like it never happened. There’s still Jesus, but he’s not the main character anymore, and the messiah hasn’t shown up yet.

Jews like the first movie but ignored the sequels. Christians think you need to watch the first two, but the third movie doesn’t count. The Moslems think the third one was the best, and Mormons liked the second one so much, they started writing fanfiction that doesn’t fit with ANY of the series canon.

ɸ: Pushing Veganism vs. Pushing Religion.

st00pid-vegunz:

I see a lot of people relate the way that vegans encourage others to become vegan to how religious people push others to follow a certain religion. Now there are some things I would like to clear up here.

Veganism is not religion. While I have absolutely nothing against people having religious beliefs, they are just that. Beliefs. There is no certainty of a big guy in the clouds. There is no certainty of heaven or hell, or that there will be a giant flood that washes away bad people. These are beliefs. And people are free to believe whatever they want, as long as it doesn’t hurt any other being.

What you call “radical vegans” who “push” veganism onto people are not like religious people who push their religion onto others. Proper veganism is based on facts. Is it a belief that animals are abused, slaughtered, raped and exploited? No. It is fact. There is no pondering involved. It is truth.

When people tell you that what you are eating has been abused, violated and killed for your benefit, it is not us pushing our “beliefs” on you. It is a fact that everyone should know. Everyone should know what their food is and where it comes from. Telling you exactly that is not pushing anything. You’re the one doing it.

The aim of “radical veganism” is to expose the meat, egg and dairy industries for what they really are. Religion is all based on beliefs and ideas. Veganism is based on fact, truth and reality. The reality is that if you consume meat, dairy and eggs you support the animal abuse that happens when these products are produced.
